As many communities are still stranded due to poor road conditions after Hurricane Helene, Samaritan's Purse has been rushing in emergency aid to the remote areas of western North Carolina by helicopter. With cold weather looming over the High Country, retired US Army General and Distinguished Flying Cross recipient Richard A. Cody donated his extensive experience as a pilot with his OH-6 Cayuse to rush in heaters, blankets, and other cold weather supplies from the Boone airport to isolated communities across North Carolina. Thanks to the support and dedication of volunteers like retired Gen. Cody, the people of south Appalachia are ready to tackle the cold weather while feeling the warmth and peace that only God's love can bring.
