While Steve grew up with the Gospel, his views on religion changed after his deployment to Iraq. For years, Steve was disconnected from the Word of God, and he often found himself mentally in the darkest places, until he attended the Operation Heal Our Patriots marriage retreat. Going out on excursions with his wife in the scenic Alaskan wilderness, while hearing other witnesses about how God has forever changed their lives, helped open Steve and Rachele's hearts to the Gospel. While each couple attends our retreat for a week, Samaritan's Purse is committed to helping veterans and their spouses reconnect with themselves and the Gospel through a year-round, Christ-centered counseling program.
